Before You Renew

Update your  contact information

Update your name, mailing address and email address if any has changed during the renewal period. Under the How Do I Find links you will find instructions on how to update your contact information. 

Renewing into Inactive/Escrow Status 

Decide if you will be renewing into inactive status (Escrow) this can only be completed when your license is eligible for renewal. 

Complete your Free CE Broker Account

The Board notified licensees in Dec 2017 that CE Broker will be the Board's CE tracking service. In Aug 2018 the Board notified licensees renewing after Jan 2019 to upload 30 hours into their free CE Broker account prior to renewing their license. CE Broker has been mentioned in the Board's newsletters going back to 2014. At this time Ohio counselors, social workers and marriage & family therapist will continue to use CE Broker to track their continuing education. 

Sign into your free CE Broker account confirm you have 30 approved hours submitted. All CE hours must be complete & submitted prior to renewal of your license even if you renew early. 

Thirty hours of continuing education must be completed every two years.  CE requirements includes a 3 hour ethics and 3 hours of supervision training for licensees with training  supervision designation.

Request a Waiver for Extension

Licensees may request an extension for the renewal of their license based on extenuating medical circumstances.  The request must be made in writing by the licensee and accompanied by a medical statement from a physician. The statement must indicate you cannot fulfill the renewal requirements and include a date by which you will be able to renew.  Requests should be submitted on or before the license expiration date to the Renewal Coordinator by email at renewal@cswb.ohio.gov expiration date.

Remove Supervision Designation

If you no longer want the training supervision designation you will need to request it be removed prior to renewal of your license. Renewing without the required hours completed is a violation of CSWMFT Board rules and may result in criminal and/or administrative sanctions.
