Licensing Requirements:

The educational requirements are outlined in the Administrative Code 4757-25-01. This rule defines the requirements of a marriage and family therapy degree, or other degree that totals 60 semester or 90-quarter hours, that meet standards that are equivalent to a graduate degree in marriage and family therapy. COAMFTE accredited programs meet the requirement.

Instructions

Step 1:
The applicant will be required to submit a written request to take the examination and include a copy of their transcripts showing the educational requirements have been met.
Application Procedure- Upon approval to take the examination the board will provide the license application materials.

Step 2:
The applicant will submit the license application with fee, and take the examination.
A temporary license may be issued (see rule 4757-25-05); The temporary license will allow practice as a MFT until the applicant's complete file goes before the board, or until an applicant fails the exam. Information regarding the temporary license will be included with the license application materials.

Step 3:

Applicants are required to have an official college transcript, showing conferred degree(s), sent directly to the Counselor, Social Worker & Marriage and Family Therapist Board. Student copies are not acceptable.
