program
2. City: one of the cities where the program will be offered

program

an (S ) for social workers and (T) for Marriage & Family Therapist.*

The Social Worker Professional Standards committee (SWPSC) has approved the
following continuing education program approval changes. LISWs, LSWs, and SWAs
may take any continuing education courses approved by the Association of Social
Worker Boards (ASWB) or the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) for
their renewal requirements.
Any course that is accredited by the ASWB will be accepted by this Board for
continuing social work education. If the course materials say “ACE approved” or
“approved as a provider for continuing education by the ASWB”, it is acceptable.
Any course that is accredited by the NASW will be accepted by this Board for
continuing social work education. If the course materials say “NASW Approved:
with a NASW approval number or “NASW State Chapter Approved” with a NASW approval
number, it is acceptable.
This change was approved due to the high quality and thoroughness of the approval
processes for continuing education programs and providers used by ASWB and NASW.
This option by rule change below is available only to national social work associations.

Post Program Approval
Post Program CEU Approval
Licensees can receive program approval for the below types of CEUs
not approved by the Board.
1. Out of state programs
2. Online programs
3. Home study courses
4. College coursework taken in a related discipline, other than
that of your license. Coursework taken within the department of
your license is automatically approved
5. Publications, Articles, Books and Teaching
CEUs taken within the State of Ohio must be Pre-Approved by
the CSWMFT Board and are not eligible for post program approval.
An exception to this rule: Marriage & Family Therapist are allowed
post program approval for programs, coursework in related disciplines
as well as programs approved for counselors and social workers.
This is due a limited amount of approved programs for MFT’s.

(90) days of attending a program. To obtain post-program approval,
the licensee shall provide the following: ref: 4757-9-05

3. A certificate of completion, transcripts, grade card, or signed statement from
the presenter to demonstrate the licensee’s attendance at the program or course.
Expect three weeks for your post program approval form to be evaluated. You will
then be sent an approval letter telling you how many CEU’s you may count towards your renewal.
Do not renew your license until you have completed all CEU’s and have gotten your notice
of action letting you know how many CEUs you may count towards your renewal.
